Meet Moira

Eco-friendly, Master Hairstylist | Organic Color Specialist | Certified Reiki 1 & Reiki 2 Practitioner | NH State-licensed Health Insurance Producer

Moira, founder of Earthly Roots Hair Studio, has built her business with compassion and a commitment to helping others reduce their chemical body burden. She empowers clients to make healthier choices through eco-conscious hair care and education.

Moira graduated from Michael’s School of Hair Design & Esthetics in 1998 and began her career in Atlanta, GA at an Aveda Concept Salon. Her talent in hairstyling led to editorial and print work, including features in Lucky Magazine and Teen Magazine.

Over time, Moira and her clients developed sensitivities to ammonia-based hair color and products containing synthetic chemicals. This led her to research ingredient safety and transition to non-ammonia color and fragrance-free, non-toxic products in 2007. She believes that understanding product ingredients is essential, as many conventional products contain hidden synthetic compounds labeled as “fragrance” or “perfume”.

Today, Moira is dedicated to using organic, vegan, cruelty-free, and non-toxic products that support both personal health and environmental well-being. She is passionate about creating a safer salon experience for her clients and community.

Life Outside the Studio

When she’s not behind the chair, Moira enjoys spending time in nature, practicing aerial yoga and yoga trapeze, fat-tire biking, singing, volunteering in the community, and playing with her dog.

At Earthly Roots Hair Studio, all hair clippings are donated to Matter of Trust, a nonprofit that uses recycled hair to help clean up oil spills.

Hair naturally absorbs oil, making it an effective tool for environmental cleanup. Each day, hundreds of thousands of pounds of hair are discarded in the U.S.—but through this program, that waste can be repurposed to support sustainability efforts.

Earthly Roots Hair Studio is a fragrance-free salon, and masks are required for all appointments to maintain a safe and mindful environment.
